AITA Under-18 Tennis Championship Returns To Jamshedpur After A Decade

Jamshedpur 9th Nov 2021: The Tata Steel AITA Under-18 Tennis Championship Series 2021 began at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Tuesday.

The National Ranking Junior Tennis Championship is being held in Jamshedpur after a gap of almost a decade.

The championship will be played on the newly constructed Deco Turf Tennis Court. The championship will conclude on November 12, 2021.

R N Murthy, Managing Director, The Tinplate Company of India Limited and Chief Guest of the occasion, said, “Tata Steel has a legacy of promoting sports starting with participation in the Olympics. I am happy that tennis is back in Jamshedpur. Hoping for great matches throughout the tournament.”

Let us clued you up that the championship has two event categories: singles and doubles, for boys and girls.

The 5-day Tennis Championship is being organized by Tata Steel in association with the Jharkhand Tennis Association under the guidelines of AITA.

Siddharth Verma of Jharkhand lost 6-0,6-0 to Mohammad Adil of West Bengal. 

Another boy Vinayak Agarwal from Jharkhand was defeated by Aditya Mohapatra of Odisha in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

However, all COVID-19 related safety guidelines and protocols have been ensured.
