Jamshedpur 9th April 2021: As many as 204 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Jamshedpur, as per the latest figures released by the health department of East Singhbhum on Thursday.
It was the highest single-day spike of coronavirus infections in Steel City this year.
Total samples tested were 2557 in the last 24 hours. There are 1072 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in Steel City has gone up to 19908, and a total of 379 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far.
As many 18457 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far, with 56 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours.
Over 2000 COVID-19 tests, including 1356 RT-PCR, were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari, and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID. Of the 2557 samples tested in Jamshedpur on Thursday 204 positives were reported.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalization.
Of the 204 new cases, 200 are from Jamshedpur urban area, 3 from Potka, and 1 from Chakulia. East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 239974 tests per million in the district.
The recovery rate has dropped down to 93.67%, while the mortality rate is 1.90 %.
So far , 657532 samples have been collected, out of which 638811 have been tested and 618903 have turned out to be negative.
