Jamshedpur 6th Jan 2022: Indian National Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar, in a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has urged to abolish the environment clearance certificate for brick kiln owners in the state.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar, in his letter to the Chief Minister, mentioned that more than 2,000 brick kilns are being operated in the state.
The owners of these kilns had to obtain a certificate of environmental clearance before allowing their kilns to operate.
“Kiln owners have to run around poles and posts to get these certificates,” the Congress leader mentioned in his letter.
Dr. Kumar further wrote, “Keeping in mind the interests of workers and the industry, the mandatory environmental clearance should be abolished. It has become difficult for the brick kiln owners to get the environmental clearance certificate, and as such, they and their workers are being faced with considerable income inconvenience.”
Despite this, Dr. Ajoy suggested that the Jharkhand government should go ahead with the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab, and Haryana, which have done away with the requirement of environmental clearance for brick kiln owners, and that this should be implemented in the state.
