Jamshedpur 6th Dec 2021: The Steel City on Sunday experienced cold weather with the minimum temperature dropping to 19ºC.
The data shows that the minimum temperature had dropped to 5ºC on December 31, 2007.
However, cloudy skies and 1.1 mm of rain left residents feeling cool.
According to the local Meteorological Department, the temperature is 1ºC below normal in the coming days, and it may see a further drop.
Meanwhile, the city looked almost deserted in the evening, with most people preferring to stay indoors.
Officials said similar conditions would prevail in the city in the coming days as well. The worst damage has been caused by the cold wave on the poor living on the roads.
Meanwhile, most districts of South, North-East, and Central Jharkhand remained cloudy with intermittent rain on Sunday.
Apart from the rain, local IMD observatories in Jamshedpur and Ranchi recorded strong winds, forcing people to stay indoors.
The IMD forecast said that due to the impact of the cyclone, there will be a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain at many places in Jharkhand in the next 24 hours.
The forecast indicated an increase of two to three degrees in the minimum readings over the next two days, after which a decline in the night readings would be seen.
