Jamshedpur 24th Nov 2021: Tata Steel’s Noamundi Iron Mine (NIM) has been accorded a ‘Five Star Rating’ for sustainable growth for three consecutive years i.e. 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20.
The award ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 5th National Conference on Mines and Minerals in New Delhi on Tuesday.
D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Raw Materials), Tata Steel, received the award on behalf of Tata Steel from Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India.
Expressing happiness on receiving the award, D B Sundara Ramam said, “Sustainability is nothing new for Tata Steel. It is rooted in our principles and values. Sustainable mining demands judicious use of technology at every stage of the life of the mine. Our current focus is on digitization and smart solutions that aim to create a sustainable future for our stakeholders. This award is a testament to our sustainable mining practices and further reinforces our commitment to sustainable development.”
Furthermore, with sustainability as the cornerstone of its operations, Noamundi Iron Mine has taken several initiatives in and around the region concerning energy conservation and reducing carbon footprint.
