Safe Return Of 61 Workers From Himachal Pradesh With The Intervention Of Chief Minister Of Jharkhand

Jamshedpur 19th Oct 2021: State Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s active intervention in bringing back the workers who were beaten up in Himachal Pradesh has paid off.

A total of 61 workers, employed by a Norwen company in a hydroelectric project of Rathi Hydroelectric Power Project Limited in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district and attacked by locals and supervisors on October 3, have returned to their home districts in Jharkhand.

The workers have returned home in four batches, and the process is on.

All the laborers are residents of the Khunti and Torpa blocks of the Khunti district and Bandgaon in West Singhbhum and other parts of the state.

These laborers had gone to work in Himachal Pradesh’s Rathi Hydroelectric Power Project Pvt Ltd.

They had to return after an incident in which workers from Jharkhand were thrashed by locals earlier this month over dues and other issues.

After the incident, the scared laborers had pleaded to return, and the Deputy Labor Superintendent of Khunti brought the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the Chief Minister immediately directed the senior officers to work together on this issue and ensure the safe return of the workers from Himachal Pradesh.
