Jamshedpur 14th Oct 2021: On Wednesday, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar allegedly forcibly stopped the distribution of prasad among devotees at a 95-year-old temple in Kashidih, sparking outrage.
After the video went viral in this regard, the news spread like wildfire, and people started walking towards Kashidih Durga Puja pandal.
Puja committee office-bearers and members of Hindu religious organizations gathered on the spot and condemned the administration’s stand.
According to reports, Deputy Commissioner Kashidih reached the Durga Puja temple at around 2 pm and chased away the people with indulgences in the queue.
On learning about this, BJP leader Abhay Singh, the patron of the Durga Puja Committee, reached the spot and asked the Deputy Commissioner the reason for this, which led to a heated argument between them.
Abhay Singh, while talking to the media, argued that the district administration should have held talks with the committee first, then only action would have been taken if they had not agreed.
“But instead, people taking bhogs were threatened and driven away. I want to ask the administration how many Covid guidelines are being followed in the city,” said Abhay Singh.
Abhay Singh threatened that the idol of Kashdih Puja would not be immersed until the district administration apologized for this act.
“If it becomes a crime to distribute Prasad from the temple, then the district administration should tell from where the bhog should be distributed. We will not immerse the idol, if the administration wants, they can forcibly immerse the idol,” said Singh and questioned the district administration under whose pressure they were working.
