‘Billion Impressions’ Wins Tata Steel’s International Design Competition

Jamshedpur 12th Oct 2021: Notions of India, an international design competition organized by Tata Structures, saw impressive participation in its second edition and emerged as the winning design with “Billion Impressions” on Gandhi Jayanti.

“Billion Impressions” by AR Namdev Talluru and AR JK Jayakanth was declared the winning design.

“The Knot” by Midori Architects and “National Integration Pavilion” by Collaborative Architecture took the honors for second and third place.

Tata Steel announced that the winning design will be produced and installed in the city of Ranchi.

Also, Sumit Kumar Sharma from the School of Planning and Architecture was declared the winner in the student category for his design “The Spirit”.

The Notion of India is our endeavor to encourage the most creative and talented engineers and architects to bring to life the innovative designs enabled by Steel. I congratulate the winners of the design competition and all the participants. I would also like to thank the jury members for being a part of this journey and enabling a very healthy discussion and selection.”

The jury, President of Asian Heritage Foundation and Perceptions of India, said: “The finals, held on a virtual platform and attended by over 400 technocrats, saw some of the most talented architects and engineers from around the world display their imagination that represents the India of today and tomorrow.”

However, the event was graced by the senior leadership team of Tata Steel, including Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, and Rajeev Singhal, Vice President (M&S), Flat Products.
