Jamshedpur 8th Oct 2021: Tata Steel organized the closing ceremony of the “High Rise Rope Rescue Training” program organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for Tata Steel Fire Responders from 5th to 7th October.
Chanakya Choudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Workers Union, were present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
Tata Workers Union Treasurer Hari Shankar Singh and NDRF Deputy Commandant Alok Kumar were also present on this occasion.
Chanakya Choudhary appreciated the effort of the Chief Safety and Brand Protection Office in organizing this training program.
He emphasized that though the company has a robust process safety system, emergencies can still occur due to various reasons like a toxic gas leak, fire in high-rise structures, and other natural calamities.
The fire department should always be ready to respond effectively and efficiently to such situations.
He further advised practicing learning from this training program.
Despite this, regular mock drills will be conducted with the NDRF team at Tata Steel Works to enhance the capacity of Tata Steel fire responders from tall buildings.
Based on the lessons learned from the training program, equipment will be procured, which will be used for high-rise rescue operations.
NDRF Deputy Commandant Alok Kumar appreciated the initiative taken by Tata Steel to train fire responders on this. He emphasized the regular practice of rope rescue techniques.
