Jamshedpur 5th Oct 2021: In the name of parking, daily extortion is being collected from roadside hawkers near the Sakchi bus stand by the personnel of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee.
On average, Rs 100 per day is being collected from the daily wage poor vendors, and in return, they are given a receipt that mentions the parking charges for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Ajay Sinha, the convener of the BJM former assembly, opposed the extortion.
On Monday, the workers led by BJM protested in front of the JNAC office against the extortion being done in a fake manner.
On the spot, the protesters, including the BJM leader, said that this process has been going on for about 6 months. Six months ago, while registering an objection to the special officer of JNAC, demanding an immediate ban on illegal recovery.
Besides this, a delegation of BJP met JNAC Special Officer Krishna Kumar on Monday and demanded verification of parking receipt.
Sinha said that the attitude of the special officer made it clear that this business was flourishing only with the connivance of the top officers of JNAC.
