Jamshedpur 15th Sept 2021: East Singhbhum district traffic police were seen in action on Tuesday as they spotted cars and SUVs parked in ‘No parking’ zones at various places in Sakchi, a commercial hub.
Drive concentrated on the busy Subarnarekha Link Road and Straight Mile Road.
The traffic cops started the drive near the district collectorate and towed away over a dozen cars and SUVs, which were parked illegally on both sides of the road, resulting in traffic snarls.
A half-kilometer road near the district collectorate was cleared of illegally parked vehicles, mostly cars.
This campaign, which started around 10 am, lasts for about an hour.
Despite this, vehicles whose documents were found to be in order were fined Rs 1,000 for illegal parking under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police have identified zones for parking in Bistupur on L Road near Bank of Baroda and on N Road, behind Tilak Pustakalaya.
Another official said that vehicles, be it four-wheelers or two-wheelers, queuing up in crowds is a common sight in the city.
However, with the reconnaissance of vehicles, they are hoped to teach civic knowledge to the people.
Unauthorized parking has become a major concern for the traffic police, and special drives have been launched time and again to provide free movement.
