JNAC To Conduct Survey For Violation Of Building Norms

Jamshedpur 29th July 2021: A day after issuing notices to several builders, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has launched a new survey identifying building codes and basement norms in Steel City.

Special Officer, JNAC, Krishan Kumar, confirmed that they are going to launch a fresh drive against buildings, especially commercial buildings and market complexes, to ensure that the owners of the buildings have not violated the building code.

“We are making a note of the buildings to ensure that the owners do not construct additional floors in violation of the building plan approved by the civic body”, Kumar said.

According to JNAC sources, as the basement is used for commercial purposes instead of being used for parking, the roads in front of the buildings are occupied by vehicle parking.

Krishna Kumar also stated that JNAC has decided to take action against unruly builders.

“We will take action against them and ensure that the rules and norms are maintained in the construction,” he added.

Basement norms have been violated in marketing complexes and residential apartments at Bistupur, Sakchi, Kadma, and Sonari, the special officer said.

Notably, the JNAC had also sealed a building being set up in defiance of the approved plan.

Earlier, the civic body had demolished encroached areas of a building or razed the walls in the basement for paving the way for parking.
