Jamshedpur 14th July 2021: Autos running on diesel will not run from January 2022 across the district, including Jamshedpur. Instead, CNG-run autos will run.
At present, there are 15,000 diesel-run autos in the district, while only 175 CNG autos are registered in the DTO office.
Dealers have been ordered to stop selling diesel autos.
A decision was taken in a meeting at the District Transport Officer’s office on Tuesday.
RTA Secretary Mustikam Ansari and DTO Dinesh Kumar Ranjan decided after the meeting with representatives of the city’s Auto Association, Petrol Pump Association, and Auto Showroom Operators Association.
It was decided that now diesel-run autos will not be registered. Auto showroom operators will also not sell diesel autos.
Through the Auto Association, information will be given to the auto operators that only CNG-run autos should be purchased.
At present, there are four CNG filling stations in the city at Golmuri, Sakchi, Mango, and Pardih.
The administration will write a letter to the three petroleum companies of the country urging them to build CNG filling stations in the city and NH-33 so that there is no problem in filling.
