East Singhbhum Administration To Rope In Village Heads To Up Vaccination Coverage

Jamshedpur 7th June 2021: The East Singhbhum administration is planning to rope in village administrators and local religious leaders to support the villagers to take the Covid-19 vaccine as the assembly in rural areas is low.
The BDOs and medical officers have been instructed to draw up a micro-plan for every village for generating awareness and urge the locals for visiting the vaccination centers.
Dr. Sahir Pall said that he will take the help of the panchayat-level public representatives in their awareness campaign.
Then, Dr. Pall will send their mobile vaccination team to visit those villages that have performed badly so far.
Besides East Singhbhum, vaccination coverage in the rural areas of Seraikela-kharsawan and West Singhbhum districts is also a matter of concern.
Villagers in Potka, Patamda, Boram, Chandil, Gamharia, Kukru, Goilkera, and Tonto are unwilling to take the jab for various reasons. “Myths and rumors connected with the vaccine that is prevalent in villages are one of the reasons preventing the villagers from taking the shot,” Indian Medical Association’s president (Jamshedpur unit), Dr. Mrityunjay Singh said.
Sources in the district health department said that a minor 3% in the 18+ section and 43% (first dose) in the 45+ plus category had been vaccinated in the rural areas so far.
