Jamshedpur, 5 January 2017 :  ASI caught red handed taking bribe in Jadugora, A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team nabbed an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at Jadugora police station while taking bribe by at the police station, on Wednesday afternoon.

Led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Amar Pandey, the ACB team caught the ASI, Naval Kishore Tiwary just after he had accepted Rs 5,000 as bribe from a man, Nagen Mardi. Revealing about the breakthrough, the DSP said that complainant Mardi who is a resident of Jadugora was a prosecution witness of a case pending in the Ghatshila court, but as he did not attend to the court date for deposition repeatedly, a non-bailable warrant against him. " As the non-bailable warrant was issued against Mardi and it was lying with the Jadugora police station. The ASI, Naval Kishore Tiwary informed Mardi about the warrant and also had promised to ensure his bail from the police station level.  For ensuring give the bail on police station level, the ASI had demanded Rs 5,000 for the favour," said Pandey. The DSP (ACB) stated that Mardi decided to approach them at the ACB's divisional office in Sonari a week ago and lodged a complaint against Tiwary. "After we received the complaint, we verified what Mardi had claimed and later we provided him a kind of chemical powder to be smeared in the currency notes which were to be paid to the ASI as bribe.  Mardi went to Jadugora police station and paid Tiwary Rs 5,000 -- two Rs 2,000 notes and 10 Rs 100 notes -- all smeared with the chemical powder.  We nabbed the ASI as soon as Mardi came out of the police station," said the DSP.  ASI caught red handed taking bribe in Jadugora " As we nabbed him we forced Tiwary (54) to take out the money and made him to dip his fingers in a glass of water.  As he did so, the water in the glass turned red and so were his fingers," the DSP, ACB pointed out. The arrested ASI was brought to the ACB's divisional office at Sonari.  The DSP (ACB) said they would take the arrested police officer to the bureau's regional office in Chaibasa tomorrow morning and would subsequently forward to the judicial custody. The  officer-in-charge, Jadugora police station, Ramchandra Ram confirmed about the ACB's raid at his police station, but refused to say anything under which circumstances the ASI had promised the prosecution witness to grant bail from the police station level.
