Both Parties Won Equal Seat: Dr Ajoy’s Effect Seen In Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Election

Both Congress And B.J.P Got 1 Seat Each But Still Considered As An Overall Victory For Congress In This Election.

Jamshedpur, 23 March 2018: Election of members for 58 Rajya Sabha seats and a bye-election seat has taken place across 16 states today. Out of 58 Rajya Sabha seats, polling was held for 25 vacant seats in six states as 33 candidates from 10 states have been elected unopposed. The voting started at 9 am and ended around 4 pm. Counting of votes for the election began from 5 pm and results for four states have been declared.

The polling took place in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, h and Telangana.

Voting was conducted for two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand, for which two candidates of BJP and one of Congress were in the fray, was held today in the Assembly premises.

The BJP has fielded Sameer Uranv and Pradeep Kumar Sonthalia, while the Congress has nominated Dheeraj Sahu.

In the house of 80 members, the ruling BJP has 43 MLAs and its ally AJSU 4.

Opposition Congress had 7 members, JMM 18, JVM(P) 2, BSP 1, MCC 1, CPIML(L) 1 and Independents 3.

Out of the 2 Rajya Sabha seat, both B.J.P and Congress won the equal seat but it is being seen as a great victory for the new Congress chief Dr. Ajoy Kumar in Jharkhand as Congress was not assumed to be as strong as B.J.P in Jharkhand since 2014 election.

But the result has astonished everyone.
